Something about the smooth contrast of her face against the darkness and the shape of her mouth and eyes remind me of a Bunraku puppet. Beautiful, but quietly unsettling for a reason I can’t quite put my finger on. I often feel that your pictures have the sense of something long lost in childhood and then half-remembered…

Thank you – your comment got me looking at pictures of Bunraku puppets. Something I haven’t done for a while though they fascinate me. I think it’s very likely that you’re right in what you said about ‘lost in childhood then half-remembered..’
